Reading FC Women play a home league game in Reading this afternoon for the first time in two years. Kick-off against Fleet Town is at 2pm at the Select Car Leasing Stadium on Shooters Way. Adults pay £8 and under-16s go in free.

For the last two seasons the team’s home ground was Arbour Park in Slough, about 18 miles east of Reading. Anyone in the town who wanted to watch had to travel up the M4 to do it.

Two more home dates follow this month:

  • Sunday 20 September: Beaconsfield Town, Women’s FA Cup second round qualifying. The club has said tickets will go on sale in due course, and has not yet said which ground the tie will be played at.
  • Sunday 27 September: Oxford City, league, 2pm, adults £8 and under-16s free.

The season did not begin well. Reading lost 7-3 away to Farnham Town, newly promoted into the division, on 6 September. Bethan Poole, Tia Johnson and Alice Curr scored.

Why the team was playing in Slough

The women’s side has spent the last few years outside the football club itself. It was run by Reading FC Community Trust, which the club credits with keeping the team competing “following the challenges faced under previous ownership”. It now plays in tier five, four divisions below the Women’s Super League.

In June the club confirmed the team was coming back under the Reading FC umbrella for 2026/27, with training at Bearwood Park and “selected home matches” at the Select Car Leasing Stadium. The whole home league programme is now at the stadium.

Emma Hopkins, the club’s head of women’s and girls’ football, told the club’s own site that keeping the team going through that period was “probably my proudest achievement”, and thanked the Community Trust for making it possible.

“Even though we’ve been playing in Slough over the last couple of years, we’ve had a core group of supporters who have followed us everywhere and have been amazing,” she said.

Manager Ed Jackson-Norris put the move more plainly.

“Arbour Park has been incredible for us and has really become a home over the last couple of years. They’ve been really welcoming and we’ve worked hard to make it feel like Reading on a matchday.

“But to be back sharing the ground with the club, with blue and white seats everywhere and the Reading badge all around you, that’s huge for us.”

The same announcement brought the club’s under-16s and under-14s back into the structure, and Rick Catania and Alec Lundberg in as co-operating managers of Reading Women (Reading Women return to Reading Football Club, 12 June 2026).

What it means for you

If you have never been, this is the cheapest way to watch competitive football in Reading. Eight pounds for an adult and nothing for a child is a fraction of a League One ticket at the same ground, and it is a Sunday afternoon rather than a Saturday.
