A rider in his 20s is in hospital after a Norcot Road crash on Friday night, and a rider, 43, died on the A4074 at Cane End on Sunday. Police want footage.

A motorcyclist in his twenties is in hospital with serious injuries after his bike hit a parked vehicle in Norcot Road on Friday night. Thames Valley Police is asking anyone with footage of the crash, or of the minutes before it, to come forward (Thames Valley Police, 11 October 2026).

Two days later a second motorcyclist, a 43-year-old man, died in a crash on the A4074 at Cane End. Cane End is in South Oxfordshire, about four miles north-west of Reading town centre on the main road to Wallingford. The force has opened a separate appeal for that crash.

Norcot Road, Friday 9 October

What the force has said:

  • When: about 11.50pm on Friday 9 October
  • Where: Norcot Road, between the junctions with Blundells Road and Church End Lane
  • What happened: a red motorcycle collided with a parked vehicle
  • Injuries: the rider, a man in his twenties, was seriously hurt and is being treated in hospital
  • Reference: 43260529811

The investigating officer is PC Erin Attride of the Roads Policing Unit. She said: “I am urging anyone who has footage or information to please come forward as soon as possible.”

The force has not said whether anyone else was involved, and it has not reported any arrest.

That stretch of Norcot Road runs through a residential part of Tilehurst, with houses and parked cars along both sides. Residents with doorbell or driveway cameras pointing at the road are the people most likely to hold footage from that time of night.

The second crash happened at about 3.20pm on Sunday 11 October. A red Honda CBR 1000 motorcycle and a grey Audi A3 were in collision on the A4074 Reading Road at Cane End (Thames Valley Police, 12 October 2026).

The rider, a 43-year-old man, died at the scene. The force says his next of kin have been told and are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers. It has not named him.

PC Robert Frost, of the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit, is investigating. He said he is “particularly keen to hear from anyone who was travelling on the A4074 around the time of the collision and may have seen either vehicle prior to the incident.” He also asked for any dash-cam footage of the crash or of either vehicle beforehand.

The reference for this crash is 43260532119.

The A4074 is the main road from Caversham towards Woodcote and Wallingford, so many of the drivers who used it that afternoon will have been heading into or out of Reading.

Vastern Road: the man who died has been named

Thames Valley Police has also published a tribute from the family of the man who died after the Vastern Road crash on Saturday 26 September. He was Henry Templeton, aged 21, from Reading (Thames Valley Police, 12 October 2026).

His family said: “He was a son, a brother, an uncle and a friend to many.” Our Vastern Road story carries the full police appeal, the footage window and its reference number.
