Barclays at 90-93 Broad Street is closed for a refit until Monday 30 November. Its nearest staffed branch is Camberley; cash is on Broad Street itself.

Barclays’ Reading branch at 90-93 Broad Street is closed for a refurbishment until Monday 30 November. The notice is on the bank’s own branch page for Reading: “This branch is temporarily closed for refurbishment. This branch will re-open on Monday 30 November.”

The page does not say when the work began.

Where Barclays sends you meanwhile

The bank says its colleagues are available at 65 High Street, Camberley, GU15 3RB, Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 4.30pm and Saturday from 9.30am to 1pm. That is the only staffed branch it names.

For cash, Barclays names two places on Broad Street:

What you need Where Barclays sends you
A counter (paying in, taking out) Post Office in TG Jones, 39 Broad Street, RG1 2AD
A free cash machine Nationwide, 51 Broad Street, RG1 2AA

What it means for you

  • Cash and paying in: you can stay on Broad Street. The Post Office counter and the Nationwide cash machine are both a few minutes’ walk from the Barclays branch.
  • Anything that needs a Barclays colleague: the bank points Reading customers to Camberley, in Surrey. Unless it is urgent, it may be easier to wait for the Reading branch to reopen on 30 November.
  • After it reopens: Barclays says the Saturday service at Broad Street is a self-service counter only, without “large cash and coin transactions” or temporary debit cards.
